Follow these simple Feng Shui tips for a Feng Shui Dorm Room Makeover!
1. Start with a clean slate!
Clean every inch of the new room, start fresh. Space clear and remove any negative energies that anyone else has left behind by opening the windows, letting fresh air in and lighting some Sage incense or playing sound or music to clear the space! If you can't light sage - then take 4 small bowls and place sage or rock salt in them and place them in the four corners of your room to keep clarity and serenity in your space. Replace them once a month if possible.
2. Colour can be therapy!
If you have an option to paint the room or accessorize then choose colours wisely. If you can choose your personal success colours (see our articles tab on our website) or choose a colour that will will help you with what you want to accomplish.
Greens for personal growth, prosperity, clear and energizing. Reds for energy, fame & reputation, Blues & Blacks for personal wisdom and career, White, Grey and Metallic colours for intelligence and learning. Avoid using muted tones of soft browns or yellows as these colors although grounding can slow the energies that surround you, however they do add yellow and orange if you are feeling sluggish and you health has not been ideal. If you can't paint your walls use these colours in accessories or art work.
3. Sleep with Peace!
Ensure your headboard rests on a solid wall, if there is a window hang strong blinds and heavy drapes that can be closed at night. Make sure you can see the door when you are lying in bed.
4. Keep the Energies Flowing!
Clutter is the biggest problem in Feng shui. Keep thing neat and clutter free in order to keep your mind neat and clutter free. Using organizers and bookcases to keep clutter to a minimum. When you walk into your room the space should feel clear, and uncluttered, a great space to study, meditate or rest.
5. The Ideal Desk Placement
If you have the luxury - your desk should be placed in the North East corner of the room - the area that is associated with knowledge. Keep it neat and ensure you have desk lamp for easy studying.
6. Relationships - Part of the Experience
Want to boost your social life? Add a light (night light is great!) in the South West corner of your room - this should help get your social life moving! If it becomes too busy - turn the light off!
7. Poison Arrows
Sharp points that aim directly at you when your sleeping can undermine all your good efforts. In a small room they are difficult to avoid. It you have a bookcase or desk in which the corner points directly at you bed, soften it by placing corner child protectors on the ends! A cheap, quick fix!
8. Tuning Out
